11-year-old boy abandoned in Igbobi Orthopaedic Hospital

An 11-year-old boy, Master Valentine Chukwu, has been reportedly abandoned by his parents at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi, Lagos.
Available information from the hospital management showed that the boy was 10 years when he was taken to the hospital for pyomysitisis with residual ulcer on his left leg on December 27, 2012, but was admitted on December 31, 2012 at the Children’s Ward of the hospital.

A statement on behalf of the Medical Director by the Protocol Officer of the hospital, Mr. Adewumni Adetoba, said the child, who claimed to have attended Afad Primary School, Ojota, Lagos was brought to the hospital by his mother, Mrs. Jessica Chukwu, who was pregnant then.
Further investigation by the hospital revealed that Mrs. Chukwu had since given birth to a baby girl named Blessing but refused to come for her son.
Adetoba claimed that efforts by the hospital management to get to Mrs. Chukwu proved abortive as all the telephone numbers she left had been contacted without any response.

According to the boy, her mother stays somewhere in Apapa while he (Valentine) stays with his uncle by name Mr. Uche at 16, Irorun Street, Alapere with his children, Junior, Chidimma and Emmanuel. His uncle has since relocated to an unknown place.
The boy had been discharged from the hospital since June 18, 2013 with all payments made by philanthropists.
The hospital is calling on the general public and relations of Valentine, who hails from Ebonyi State to contact the public relations unit of the hospital for necessary action.
