Russian rocket loses control in space, begins descending and can crash anywhere in the world

The Russian spacecraft that went out of control on Tuesday has already begun an unstoppable descent into Earth's atmosphere, experts have claimed.

Roscosmos, the Russian Space Agency, was trying to save the unmanned Progress M-27M spacecraft after a major malfunction caused it to spin out of control.

But an official claimed that the spacecraft had 'nowhere else to go' apart from back into Earth's atmosphere - and an expert told MailOnline: 'It's gone.'

A source told AFP: "It has started descending. It has nowhere to go.
It is clear that absolutely uncontrollable reactions have begun."
It emerged on Tuesday that officials were struggling to contact the spacecraft, meaning they could not be sure what the problem was - or how to resolve it.

Progress is not designed to be able to return to Earth, so if it does re-enter Earth's atmosphere, it's likely most of it would burn up during the intense heat of re-entry as it lacks a heat shield.
An expert told MailOnline it was unresponsive to commands, most of its sensors had failed and its fuel was heavily depleted.

There also seems to be a debris cloud in its vicinity, possibly from an explosion. All the signs indicate that there will be no chance of recovering it.
Current theories as to what happened include a collision with the third stage of the rocket, or an explosion on Progress itself.

It is expected to begin an uncontrolled re-entry in days.
The cargo spacecraft was due to dock with the ISS six hours after taking off from Kazakhstan on Tuesday at 8:09am BST (3:09am EDT), bringing 2.5 tonness of supplies including food.

But shortly after launching, an unknown glitch caused the spacecraft to begin spinning wildly out of control, as seen in dramatic footage that showed Earth rotating past the camera.
Flight controllers were unable to receive data from the spacecraft, which appeared to have entered the wrong orbit.

While Russia's Mission Control has failed to stabilise the ship so far, it said it had not yet given up on saving the unmanned spacecraft.
Mission Control spokesman, Sergei Talalasov, told the Interfax news agency on Wednesday that flight controllers were still trying to restore communication with the Progress.

"Specialists have recognised that Progress is hopeless. Controlled de-orbiting is impossible," another source said.

"There have been no improvements," a mission control spokesman told AFP.
Earlier a Russian mission control source said: "Only a miracle can save the spacecraft."

'We have scheduled two more communication sessions to soothe our conscience,' said the official, but hopes are virtually zero of salvaging the craft which contained supplied for the International Space Station.

Troops storm Sambisa, rescue 293 females

Maiduguri — Nigerian troops, yesterday, stormed the Sambisa forest hideout of the Boko Haram terrorists, and rescued 200 girls and 93 women in a daring operation.

The Defence Headquarters in a statement, yesterday, confirmed the rescue operation but said it could not yet determine if some of the girls were Chibok schoolgirls abducted over a year ago from Chibok town in Borno State.

Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col S. K. Usman, in a statement said:
“This is to inform you that our gallant troops have been making progress in the desired aim of ridding the nation of terrorists and their sanctuaries.

“It is heartwarming to inform you that today (yesterday), troops continued the offensive and cleared four key terrorist camps in Sambisa forest, Borno State. So far, they have destroyed and cleared Sassa, Tokumbere and two other camps in the general area of Alafa, all within the Sambisa forest.
“The troops have also rescued 200 abducted girls and 93 women. They are presently being processed. Similarly, a number of equipment and weapons have been captured. We will send further details and photographs soon.”

Also confirming the operation, Director, Defence Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade, said he could not confirm the identity of the freed victims and their origins and he could not state if any of them was from Chibok until after thorough screening and proper investigations.

He said: “I can only confirm the rescue this afternoon (yesterday) of 200 girls and 93 women in different camps in the forest. We are yet to determine their origin as all the freed persons are now being screened and profiled. We will provide more details later.”

Boko Haram kills 22 in Borno
Meanwhile, no fewer than 22 people were killed by suspected Boko Haram members in Marguba community and surrounding villages of Beneshiekh, the headquarters of Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The insurgents, according to sources, also injured many residents after setting ablaze several houses, mostly those with thatched roofs, before looting foodstuff and livestock.
Beneshiekh is north west and about 76 kilometres drive from Maiduguri, the state capital. It is located on the fringes of Sambisa forest along Maiduguri-Damaturu-Kano road which have witnessed series of deadly attacks by insurgents.

This development is coming barely 24 hours after a group of insurgents laid ambush on some returning residents, killing 21 in Bultaram village of Gujba council area of Borno State while attempting to return to their sacked village to evacuate their abandoned foodstuff and livestock.

Fleeing residents recount ordeal
Our correspondent reliably gathered from fleeing residents now taking refuge in Beneshiekh town that “the insurgents came from Sambisa forest axis and stormed the villages Monday evening, wreaked havoc as they had a field day without confrontation.
“Our communities have been ransacked by a group of terrorists numbering over 100 who came in over five Hilux vehicles, motorcycles armed with AK-47 rifles, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and local petrol bombs, killing 17 residents in Marguba community and other villages near Beneshiekh.

“I was among the lucky survivors who escaped the attacks with my wife and two kids, we are presently taking refuge in Beneshiekh.
“It is unfortunate that many people thought that with the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) at the March 28 presidential elections, things related to killings and destruction by the insurgents will end, but it appears that worse is still on the way as many communities were attacked by insurgents in the north-east after the elections.”

Contacted, the cell phone of the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Asso Emmanuel was not reachable, but a member of the civilian JTF from Beneshiekh confirmed the incident, pointing out that 22 people were killed in desperate attacks in nearby villages of Beneshiekh.

He also claimed that the situation had been brought under control as troops with support from members of vigilante youth are currently combing the area to apprehend fleeing insurgents.

Chibok girls
It will be recalled that on April 15 2014, 276 female students were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State, by Boko Haram terrorists. 57 of them however managed to escape while they were being conveyed to the forests and after some days in captivity.

On October 17 2014, hopes were raised that the 219 remaining girls might soon be released after the Nigerian army announced a truce between Boko Haram and government forces. The announcement coincided with the six-month anniversary of the girls’ capture and followed a month of negotiations mediated in Saudi Arabia by Chadian president, Idris DĂ©by.

The truce turned out to be false as Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau claimed that the girls have been married out.
It will also be recalled that the National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Kenneth Minimah at several occasions stated that the truth about the whereabouts of the 200 girls of the Government Secondary School, Chibok will be made known when the attack to liberate Sambisa forest is carried out.

Before now several communities including Gwoza and Madagali where the girls were suspected to have been kept, were liberated and there were no signs of the girls with freed captives saying they don’t know the whereabouts of the girls.

Security sources told Vanguard that the vast Sambisa forest was not attacked before now because the military wanted to liberate all adjoining communities to the forest and secure possible escape routes whenever the operation to attack the forest was launched.

Moreover, intelligence reports showed that all entry and exit points into the forest had been heavily laden with landmines and other dangerous explosives which newly acquired weaponry such as mines-sweeping armoured tanks have been clearing.

Coffins ready as Nigerians, others are set for execution in Indonesia

Barring any last-minute appeal from around the world, the 10 drug convicts sentenced to death in Indonesia will be executed just after the stroke of midnight on Wednesday (3am AEST), it has been confirmed.

The date - April 29 - became official when a local funeral director in Cilacap, the nearest port to Nusakambangan, or Death Island, was instructed to inscribe the names of those to be shot by firing squad and the date of their deaths.

Chan and Sukumaran and others refused to sign their execution warrants when they were given 72 hours notice of their deaths during official proceedings on Saturday, saying they believed it would be unjust to kill them.

When asked to sign his papers, Sukumaran refused and told officials he believed he had been rehabilitated and that he had been doing positive work in prison.

"When he received the 72 hours notice, he remained dignified and peaceful. He spoke with courtesy and clarity to a hushed room explaining why he felt to proceed to execution was unjust," his lawyer, Julian McMahon, told News Corp.

Funeral director, Suhendra Putro, on Sunday was busily stencilling crosses and putting finishing touches to writing the names of the Christian victims and the dates of their deaths, reports The Herald Sun.

As well as the names of the two Australians, the names of Brazilian national, Rodrigo Gularte, Nigerian, Okwudili Ayotanze, and Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso of the Philippines, were also written in white on the wooden crosses. The date '29.04.15' was also written in white ink and the letters 'RIP'.
Raheem Agbaje Salami and Martin Anderson, two othe Nigerians, are also to be executed but as non-Christians, their coffins will not be adorned with crosses.

This was further confirmed by Utomo Karim, the lawyer for a Nigerian prisoner facing the firing squad.
"Each convict on death row was called in one by one, for between 30 minutes and one hour, it varied," Mr Karim said.

"My client (Nigerian Raheem Agbaje Salami) was notified of the day of the execution, it will be (just after midnight on) Tuesday night."
Mr Karim added that the six others were also told the countdown to their execution had started

Don’t let me die, lady bathed with acid by ex-lover cries

ALADI Sule lies critically ill at  the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, Kogi State.  Her body is wrapped  in bandage,  from the head to the chest. Part  of her back and  her right leg are socked in foil. One of her eyes has been “eaten” by acid and her right ear is  rolled into a small  ball. Aladi’s critical situation is no  thanks to an  alleged angry ex-lover who  was said to have promised to destroy  her beauty and  fulfilled  his promise.

Two months ago, Aladi was a pretty lady in her community, Idah, the  headquarters of Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State. At  25,  Aladi’s beauty was like a springing bud of  flower whose nectar was attractive to men. But that beauty was destroyed few weeks ago when the alleged  ex-lover bathed  her with acid and left her in agony.  A visit to the hospital showed  that  Aladi knew her body had been ‘recreated’ by the acid. However, she did  not know the degree of the attack.
She was yet to come to terms with the fact  that her right ear and right eye had been damaged  by the acid. Aladi, who struggle in pains to narrate the ugly incident, said was suffering because she failed to take serious the threat of her ex-lover, Kazeem Abdullahi, who, she alleged, had come to her fruits shop, to deal with her if she failed to pack out of the house he rented for her. Sunday Vanguard gathered that Aladi and the suspect  were secondary school lovers in Idah.

Shortly after their secondary school education, Aladi became pregnant for him in 2011, a  development that caused  Aladi to moved into Kazeem’s  house. The pregnancy produced a baby girl. Unfortunately, the baby died shortly after her first  birthday.  Kazeem was said to have married another wife  in 2011 who also moved into the  house with them – that was the beginning of Aladi’s travail.

The new wife was said to have raised the alarm shortly after that Aladi was the reason she was unable to conceive. She alleged that  Aladi  had been visiting a neighboring community to affect her spiritually.
The second wife was also said to have alleged that the sudden disappearance of her clothes and other house hold items was a product of Aladi’s spiritual attack; a  development that made Kazeem to send Aladi’s away to her family house. Few months after, Kazeem was said to have  approached Aladi to return to the house. This time around,  Aladi’s family kicked against it. The paternal uncle was said to have frowned against it.

He was said to have told Kazeem to prepare for marriage rites before he could get her back to his house. His position was hinged on the fact that Aladi was subjected to such maltreatment because there was no proper marriage between them. Kazeem promised to perform the marriage rite. In the interim, he rented a  house, for her. However, few months after, Kazeem was said to have recanted and said he was no longer interested in continuing with the marriage.

The family was said to have raised money for Aladi  which she used to start  the business of selling provision in the market in day time and, in the evening, retired to her street corner ( Bishop Junction) selling fruits.  Bishop Junction is a popular area of Idah with taxi and Okada riders using the place as their park. In few months, she was able to raise fund and was already planning to seek admission to the university. It was at this Bishop Junction that Kazeem approached her and demanded that she pack  out of the house he rented for her. “He told me to pack out, threatening to deal with me.

He said he was  going to recreate me and make me ugly saying it was because men were still looking at me that made me think I was pretty. He also said if I failed to pack out, he will deal with me and destroy the beauty that I was  using to ‘pose’ around town. I thought he was just jealous that I was  looking good and making progress with my business after he said he was no longer interested in me. I told  him it was  mere anger and I decided to ignore his warning.”Aladi also said she did not bother to inform any of her family members about the threat until the sad event happened. Not done, Kazeem was said to have approached the land lady he rented the house from, urging her to send Aladi’s packing.

The landlady was said to have informed him that she could not send her away on the grounds that she had been able to renew the house rent on her own. Kazeem was said to have stormed out of the building but not before telling the land lady to expect him back in a manner she will never forget. Two weeks later, it happened. Aladi said it was around midnight when she was sleeping at home with her niece  staying with her. Because of the heat, she decided to open her door; afterall, some  occupants of the building were also sleeping outside.   She said she was woken up by the sound of her niece struggling with a man  beside her on the bed.”I saw my niece struggling with him.

Kazeem was holding a container in his hand. Immediately I saw him, I began to scream his name but, before my shout could attract  people, he had already poured  the content on me. Immediately, it felt as if my body was set up on fire. I didn’t know what happened next until I found myself at the village cottage clinic”. The niece was also affected at the head as  the acid poured on her. It was from the hospital that she was referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja where she spent one month at the emergency ward before being transferred to the theater for her first surgery and now lies in  critical condition at the female surgical ward. Her sister, Fatima Sule, who is looking after her, said the family received  a distress call from a  neighbor, who heard her shouting and rushed to her room.

The neighbor was said to have seen a familiar figure bolting  out of the room, and, on getting inside, saw her with the acid sprayed on her body. They immediately rushed her to the village clinic. “When we got to the hospital I could not identify my sister again. Part of her body had been burnt beyond  recognition”. The elder brother, Isiaka Sule, a VIO officer, who has been responsible for the medical payment, said it was around 2 o’clock in the night when her sister, Fatima, called him to say  their sister had been bathed with acid. Isiaka said the next day he and  some  family member went to the police station in the community to lodge a  complaint. But to their surprise, Kazeem was said to have been there to lodge a similar complaint.

But Kazeem, in his statement, told the police that he heard that a lady in her street (even though he allegedly lives  far away from the place) had been bathed with acid. He was quoted as saying he only came to the station to report as a good  citizen and because some people may say he was the one who did it. Aladi from the sick bed, insisted the estranged  lover was the person she saw on the day she was attacked. The police arrested Kazeem but  three days later set him free as his(Kazeem) parents promised to take care of Aladi’s medical bill. The Sule family decided against pursuing the case in  court, opting instead to focus  on saving the life of their sister. “How can I have the  time, energy or money to go to court or continue visiting the police station when our sister is still lying critically ill in  hospital?

As I speak with you we have spent over N300,000 on her treatment. I have even taken a soft loan of N100, 000 from Sharp – Sharp. That along with the money from  sympathizers has all been expended. We have exceeded our financial limit,”Isiaka said. Aladi  still has a long way to go. The doctors  treating her said there are  two other surgeries to be carried out aside the fact that her right eye had been lost and the right ear eaten by the acid. Since the doctors could not get vein in her hands; they had to lacerate one of her legs in order to pass  drips. Aladi  fears she may not be able to walk again.

“All I’m after is to be able to walk again. Presently I cannot put  my leg on the ground . I know I am already disfigured. I also know that he (Kazeem) has  succeeded in his plan.I don’t care about my body or look again; I just hope I can walk,” she stated. The doctors however give a glimpse of hope. The laceration of Aladi’s leg will not make her paralyzed. They said she will still be able to use the leg to walk again. The families are however  in the dilemma on how to raise money for the other surgeries and pay  medical bills that will arise. The efforts of the family to approach Kogi State

Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs have not yielded  positive result. The family is appealing to individuals and  organizations to come to their aid to give their sister  ‘life’ again. The family can be assisted through the following account:  ISIAKA SULE, U.B.A, LOKOJA,  Account Number: 2032301751.

How Pastor duped sales girl of N4m by promising to marry her

A 32-year-old cleric, Pastor Abel Benard Aniude of Trimphant Kings Assembly, Enugu, has been nabbed by police detec tives in Enugu for allegedly duping a 25-year-old lady, Ojiaku Chiamaka of N4 million. The pastor was said to have wooed Chiamaka on facebook in December 2013 and promised her marriage. Using preparations for the marriage as a bait, the clergy alleg edly swindled the lady over N4 million.

He was arrested by police detectives at his No 42 Odudukoko street, Gariki Awku nanaw, Enugu State on April 13 following complaints filed by the victim.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, who confirmed the ar rest, told Saturday Sun that the suspect and his younger brother, Tobias Aniude serving a jail term in Enugu prison, were notori ous for using facebook to promise innocent women marriage and eventually dupe them.

The pastor’s younger brother, Tobias was said to have been arrested for kidnap ping and armed robbery and later remanded in Enugu prison in March. In the prison, Tobias was alleged to have continued using facebook to scam more innocent Nigerians.

The victim, Chiamaka, who works as a sales girl with her brother, Emmanuel Mon day Ojiaku at Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State, was said to have diverted proceeds from sales in her brother’s shop to meet the de mands of Pastor Aniude.

Giving details of what transpired be tween him and Chiamaka, Pastor Aniude told Saturday Sun:

“I am an Assistant Pas tor with Triumphant Kings Assembly. I have been in ministry for five years now. I am jobless. I met Chiamaka on facebook in Decem ber, 2013. I promised to marry her. Then, she started sending money to my bank account in Enugu. I visited her at Ibadan twice and collected the sum of N1million from her.”

“I have to send my wife away with my two kids from my house to Aba. When I told my wife that I wanted to marry a second wife but she refused, that prompted me to send her packing. “I used part of the money Chiamaka was sending to buy a car and built a bungalow in my village at Nochele Ndeaboli in Aliri Local Government Area, Enugu State. “I deceived her that I wanted to marry her on Christmas day, December 25, 2014. I also lied to her that I had a motor accident. I rescheduled it for February 14, 2015. I lied to her again that armed robbers attacked me. I rescheduled it for Easter period, April 4, 2015 before the police anti-kidnappers squad arrested my wife, my Pastor Sam Ezenagu before I was arrested”.

Explaining how his younger brother, Tobias got involved in the scam, the sus pect said:

“It was when I have duped her that I handed over her phone number to my younger brother, Tobias who is currently serving in Enugu prison yard. My younger brother called Chiamka and told her that the wedding invitation cards were ready but that I am not serious and he is ready to marry her and so she should send him money.”

In her own account of the scam, Chiam aka explained:

“I met Pastor Abel Bernard Aniude on facebook in December 2013 and we started chatting on facebook. Pastor Abel deceived me that he wanted to marry me. I worked in the shop of my brother, Emmauel Ojiaku who sells electronics in Ibadan. I started to send N700,000 and N300,000 to Pastor Abel through his UBA and Diamond account numbers”.

“In July 2014, Pastor Abel came to Ibadan and lodged in a hotel and after hav ing sex with me, I gave him N300,000. Also on September, 2014, Pastor Abel came to Ibadan and lodged again in same hotel and after having sex me, I gave him N700,000. I don’t known how I ended up sending N4 million into his bank accounts.” “My family should forgive me. I was deceived. I have learnt my lesson in a hard way”, she said.

The victim’s brother, Emmanuel Oji aku stated: “Chiamaka is my blood sister. She was in the village in Nnewi, Anambra State where one guy impregnated her and later the guy denied the pregnancy, she de livered the baby and after sometimes, the baby died. I went to the village in Nnewi and brought her to Ibadan to stay with me so that she will not suffer”.

On how Chiamaka was able to have ac cess to his money, Emmanuel said:

“I deal in electrical appliances in Ibadan. I took my sister, Chiamaka to be like a sales girl. Sud denly my wife took ill and had to take her to India for treatment.

“Chiamaka was in charge of my shop. I didn’t suspect her rather I handed over the shop to her. It was March 27, 2015 when Chiamaka came back from the shop and I discovered that she was having N1700, which led to searching of her room and I discovered N65,000 under her bed. I brought out cutlass and threatened her and collected her phone before she confessed to me that she has sent over N4 million to Pas tor Abel.”

The General Overseer of Triumphant Kings Assembly, 47-year-old Pastor Sam Ezenagu where Pastor Abel works as Assis tant Pastor told Saturday Sun:

“I was doing counselling in my church, four years ago when Pastor Abel walked in and told me that he wanted to assist me in my ministry. We started working together. Every Sunday service we always give him N3,000.

“Suddenly, Pastor Abel brought a Honda Sport car and we celebrated it and asked him where he got the car. Pastor Abel told me that it was one of those he prays for that gave him the car. The church rejoiced with him. Also, in some months, I will not see Pastor Abel and if I call him, he would tell me he was doing some business some where.”
Pastor Ezenagu added:

“It was April 12, 2015, Pastor Abel called me that police men has arrested his wife. I ran to Aba. I asked whether there is any problem, I took a lawyer along with Pastor Abel and that was how he was arrested. Pastor Abel had to confess that he always dupe some ladies on facebook and how he got involved in the N4 million scam.

CP Adamu assured that Pastor Abel will soon be charged to court for trial.
