FEMALE SUICIDE BOMBER KILLS SELF, SOLDIER IN GOMBE

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, has given an insight into how the first Nigerian female suicide bomber carried out her attack in Gombe State on Sunday.

In a telephone interview with our correspondent, in Abuja, Jalo said the incident occurred at about 10.50am on Sunday when a suspected suicide bomber attempted to force her way through the gate of a military facility in Gombe.

According to him, the lady refused to heed repeated calls for her to stop when a soldier moved towards her in an attempt to stop her but she detonated her bomb, killing herself and the solider in the process.

He said “A female suicide bomber was approaching the army quarter guard around the railway area, she was heading towards the military post, they kept shouting for her to halt (stop in military parlance).

“But, she kept advancing. One of the soldiers approached her perhaps to force her to stop. It was at this point that she blew up herself and one soldier.”

When contacted, the Special Adviser (Media) to the Gombe State Governor, Mr. Ayuba Alukwe, said information was still sketchy because the Military had yet to release an official statement.
