The name of Gbenga, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, is making the rounds as one of the victims of this morning’s plane crash in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos.

According to Akanni Segun Segun Olalekan, former Personal Assistant to Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) National Cordinator, Otunba Gani Adams, “OBj’s son, Gbenga was also killed in the crash as all the 20 passengers.”

Olalekan has releasing names of alleged victims of the crash on his facebook wall. He wrote: “Its been reported that the owner of MIC Casket, Mr. OKUSANYA was among the passengers and had been confirmed dead!”

About 20 passengers are believed to have been in the Embraer aircraft reportedly owned and operated by Associated Airlines, which crashed around Concord Road in Mafoluku shortly after taking off from the local wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja.

The charted plane was said to be heading for Akure, the Ondo State capital, with the remains of Dr. Olusegun Agagu, a former gvernor of Ondo State, who died on September 13 and is scheduled to be buried this weekend.

Emergency services have moved to the site of the crash but Nigeria’s aviation authorities are yet to react to the accident.
