A traditional wedding at Ibagwa, Ezimo-Agu in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu state was marred by an ugly incident during which one person lost their life. The local police are currently investigating the case.
A quarrel started between the bride's brothers, Obinna Adonu and Chukwudi Adonu. A guest, identified as Ozor Obodo Ezenwa, attempted to prevent one from shooting the other. It was learnt that he was killed in the course of the struggle.
On October 10, an argument began between the two brothers who attended their sister's wedding. Chukwudi Adonu allegedly picked up a single-barrelled gun, intending to shoot his brother. The deceased Ezenwa tried to intervene by holding the assaulter, but the gun went off, killing Ezenwa.
The young man was about 22 years old. His remains have been deposited at the mortuary of Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka.
Police issued a statement assuring "members of the public that the Police will leave up to its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property."
