CUTLASS wielding youths on Sunday
morning stormed the newly discovered kidnappers’ den in Soka area of Ibadan,
Oyo State, threatening to pull down structures suspected to be hideouts of the kidnappers.
The youth in their hundreds, Nigerian Tribune gathered were bouyed by a call put through to them by one of their kidnapped relatives on Saturday evening. The captives according to sources were named as Lanre and Denku, who had been declared wanted for over six days now.
According to sources, the relatives connected themselves and set out to set free their brother who they claimed called them through the mobile phone of a new captive who was kidnapped on Saturday evening.
Some members of the family who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune under the condition of anonymity disclosed that their brother known as Lanre, a commercial motorcyclist, had been declared missing since last week. His motorbike according to them was thrown into Ogunpa river at the Soka end of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway and since then, all attempts to locate him proved abortive.
However, one of his brothers informed that Lanre called them on Sunday morning to tell them he was still within the Soka area and had been hearing some conversation of the crowd visiting the area.
His call allegedly spurred his siblings who continued informing others that “he is still within the Soka area location,” to continue the search effort.
One of his siblings who led the youths hinted that at a time, one of their captors spoke with him and was raining curses on him. Lanre’s brother further noted that with their brother’s communication, they were sure the kidnappers were still within the environment, but the timely intervention of security agents was able to save the situation.
Furthermore, the crowd was also annoyed with the discovery of a bowl of fresh soup dropped within the area, sensing a likely fresh attack.
Meanwhile, the den has continued to attract crowd as residents across Ibadan metropolis thronged the venue on sight seeing.
