A lunatic was set ablaze in Ondo town following an
alleged attempt to kidnap a primary school pupil at Oluseyi Street in the town.
Residents of the area were taken aback when they
discovered the true state of health of the lunatic.
It was gathered that the mentally derailed person whose appellation was given as ‘Aya-Baba’ was often seen at a dumping site located in the area.
The youths were said to have threatened to kill the woman if she refused to disclose her true identity.
It was learnt that the aggrieved youths while searching the woman’s handbag discovered a Blackberry, Nokia phones and artificial finger nails.
The mad woman who was said to have disguised with wig on her head, was said to have later confessed that she came from Osogbo in Osun State to engage in kidnapping.
When reporters arrived at the scene of the incident, residents of the community, mainly Okada riders, were seen gathered at the scene to have a glimpse of the remains of the woman already burnt beyond recognition.
Policemen from Funmbi Fagun Division in Ondo town were also at the scene to prevent further breakdown of law and order in the area.
When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the police station, Mr. Emmanuel Okorie, who confirmed the incident, said the report would be forwarded to Akure, the state capital.
