Ritualists' den uncovered in Ogun



The Police attached to Sango Divisional Headquarters in Ogun State, have uncovered another ritualists' den in Iyana-Ilogbo axis of Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

As gathered from a reliable source, two middle aged men were arrested by the Police in connection to the den.

It was also gathered that the den was located at an abandoned filling station at Iyana-Ilogbo bus stop, along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway‎ on Saturday morning, following a tip-off by spirited member of the public to the Police.

An unconfirmed report had it that two victims in the custody of the ritualists' escaped from the building
and attempt by them (ritualists') to capture them back led to the discovery of the den.

The prompt attention of the police led to the arrest of the suspects while two other people suspected to be members of the gang were reported to have escaped the scene.

A source who does not want his name in print said that an used fuel tank was allegedly used by the criminals to block the frontage of the building used in perpetrating their evil act.

Sources who gained entry into the building said offensive smell pervaded the air and that several holes filled with blood, shoes, underwears,wigs were items found inside the building.

Scores of residents of the area expressed shock about the development and urged security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous act are brought to justice.

‎When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident.

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said the incident happened at about 7.00am, and that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Sango Division and men of the Anti-Robbery Squad‎, immediately swung into action having received the information.

He said one Babatunde Taofeek and one Hammed Hassan, were found at the scene with a lifeless body of a man suspected to have been killed by the criminals.

Items recovered from the scene included a cutlass, clothes, shoes and caps. He said that the suspects were at an abandoned filling station (Ayokunnu), Iyana-Ilogbo.

He said that effort was on to arrest the owner of the abandoned filling station and that the suspects are under interrogation.

Adejobi added that state Commissioner of Police‎, Abdulmajid Ali, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Command for further investigation.
